A Penny Found is a penny lost!
hmmm where to start... Well Sunday afternoon Ethan was playing in the front room as we were getting lunch together. He found a penny and was very excited. I tried to get him to hand it over and it was a no go. So I just gave up the fight and let him be... Yes I know I'm a horrible mother :( Anyway a little while later Ethan came to us and said "my penny is gone, it went down my throat" That's right my child swallowed a penny. I couldn't believe it!! We asked him about 100 times in different ways where the penny went and if he swallowed it, leading to the same result, "It went down my throat." So I asked him how he was feeling and he said he is ok. He didn't sound like it was blocking anything and I figured it would just pass. Vance on the other hand gets a little more nervous and calls everyone in the phonebook trying to figure out what to do. Finally we decided to just wait.
Then today Ethan starting crying and whining his stomach hurt. That made me nervous especially since we haven't seen the shiny object yet. I called Ethan's Dr and she suggested us coming in. So I haul both kids to the doctors office and get him checked out. she gives him a good look and then sends us on the other side of town to the X-Ray place. So I pack them up and head there. I haul them both in. Let me remind you Aidan is not the easiest laid back child!! So of course we are not home so heaven for bid he let me hold him. As I'm trying to get Ethan checked in I'm holding onto Aidan for dear life. Finally I set him down because my arm is about to fall off. ZOOM and he is off!! I get to run after him and make sure Ethan is still next to me. I head back to the check-in desk and answer a few questions. Let me just tell you how freakin' slow this lady was. I mean I'm the only person in the waiting room I have two children I'm chasing and bullets of sweat are beading off my face, you'd think she'd speed things up a big. Huh yea right!!! So 15 min into the check-in process and just about to head back Ethan says he has to go to the bathroom. Of course you do!!! We go into the restroom, all three of us head for the largest stall and I wait for Turtle Ethan to go PEE. Oh wait he doesn't just have to pee he has to poop as well. At the same time he has touched every inch of that toilet. Gross!! As I'm trying to encourage him not to touch everything and to focus on going to the bathroom Aidan is fighting to be set free. Finally we finish the ordeal of bathroom time and head back to the waiting room. 2 seconds later the nurse comes out "Oh there you are" Urrgg!!!
Anyway we head to the X-Ray and we lie Ethan and the bed. He was good and sat so still. We told him they were going to take a picture of your belly. We got the X-Ray back, lo and behold there it was, shiny round penny!! So I pack the kids up and by this time Vance is ready to be picked up from school. I head to the college and snag him. Head back to the Doctors office. This time Vance stays in the car with Aidan as Ethan and I go into the office. Results are his penny is far enough that is should pass soon, but he backed up and we got to do an enima on him!!!! Lovely huh?? Well hopefully we will find Shiny round penny soon!!
Moral of the story, Take the penny anyway!!

So much fun!! Dax is a runner too...I usually have to chase him down with Tess straped to the front of me. LOVE IT!! Glad to hear you struggle with it too.
Sorry about the penny. Poor kid, he had to learn the hard way that a penny is hardly worth all that trouble.
Poor little Ethan. I am glad he is ok. Are you going to save the penny? Lol
Hilarious! I almost fell off my chair laughing! What an ordeal and a great story.
Oh my gosh! Your boys just don't stopped!
Seriously Heather, next time, call me. I could have totally taken Aiden for you. Call me!!
Oh my! My boys haven't tried that one yet...I am sure I will get my turn eventually. I am glad that everything is okay now!
So funny Heather! I can totally relate. My little girl is so crazy when we go places and wrestling two kids can be so hard! I was laughing so hard when I read your story though - And I will now be VERY careful with pennies! Who wants to go through all of that?
Maybe he was just being thrifty, saving his money. :) That story made me laugh so hard! thanks for the laugh.
