Wednesday morning we packed all our stuff and headed to Salt Lake. We met with Marilyn, my mother-in-law, at her house and than hit up some lunch. Another good place to eat in Utah that we don't have here in Washington is Astro Burger or Crown Burgers. Very yummy stuff. Than we hung out at Marilyn's waiting for the "Coomes" family to arrive. A little after 1:00 Teri, my sister-in-law and her family arrived from Billings, MT. with Astro Burger food. I thought it was pretty funny.
Here is Teri Hodo Coomes my sister-in-law and her kiddos. Super cute family.
We headed south towards Provo for our Wight Family Reunion at Aspen Grove. Aspen Grove is a church owned retreat where they have weekly camps and mini camps for all types. There were many family reunions going on at the time. We were the biggest of all 74 people in our family reunion.
You head up Provo Canyon as if you were going to Sundance, but keep heading up the mountain for another 10 minutes.
We checked into the lodge receiving all information on where to go and all agenda for the camp.
First things first, check out the sleeping arrangements. The boys checking out the bunk beds. They didn't want anything to do with them when it actually came to sleeping.
Our cabin could hold 8 people if you needed to. They are heated and equipped with all bedding. Except I am weird and did have to bring my own stuff. Something about sleeping in used bedding gives me the hebe gebe's.
Kids discovered the loft above. It's not so bad climbing up, but it's scary trying to come down.
Ethan got up and decided he wanted to get down. Vance told him if he could get up by himself he would have to get down by himself. Ethan succeeded and was able to make it.
Here is the actual cabin the Vance Hodo family slept in. Cabin 35.
After getting set up in our cabins we headed back to the main lodge area. At the beginning of the camp they have what is called "Aspen Follies". It gives families time to play and have a good time. You are suppose to get into groups and play all kinds of different games. Well we just kind of roam from one place to another. No real organization at all. Some mingle, but we all know how well I do that.
Ethan playing in the sand on the volleyball court.
1 Giant hill + 1 four year = .....
a rolling tumbling child down the huge hill. You have to admit it is tempting to try it yourself.
Here is the field area where we played the games. It is a lot bigger behind me. The view though is amazing that surrounded us the whole time.
Ethan getting into some hula hoop throwing action.
This giant ball has nothing on this four year old!!!
Actually the second they said go Ethan was already 10 feet behind.
Daniel my brother-in-law and his kids. It's cute how attached they are. They sure warmed up though.
Alphabet plate game.
Go for it buddy.
Gracie is such a doll. I can't believe how big she is getting.
Jaromy my nephew.
Ethan with cousins Gracie and Emily
Naturally sand being thrown at someone.
After the follies the boys played on the playground for a bit.
One of the best parts of Aspen Grove is they take care of all the food, the preparation and clean-up. That's the worst part of camping and reunions.
So it was off to dinner.
Ethan, Aidan and silly Jaromy.
They had these silly statues all over and the kids were very entertained by them. Here is Jaromy and Emily.
Racquetball courts were there and Aidan loved "trying" to hit the birdie.
Aidan made the rounds on all the statues.
Turtle Time.
The kid actually made the turtle into a slide. Only him!!
Aidan and cousin Gracie on the bears.
Love the mountains in the background.
Father like son!! I swear they are exactly the same in SOO many ways.
Jaromy and Ethan. I hope they become really close.
Ethan sitting on grandma and grandpa
Val looks like she is giving Martin quite the lecture. ;)
Ok not sure what Aidan is doing here.
Perfect little angel.
Time for Opening cermony. Here is Uncle Chad, part of Ethan, grandma and grandpa.
They had the different kids come up in their age groups to sing a song they've never heard of. Aidan did not want to come down.
After that we headed back to the cabin for some zzzzzzz's.
Quite the silly family picture.
This is a really cute picture, but like Vance told Ethan you go up you must come down. Ethan got down and said "Dad you have to come down by yourself and I'm not helping you." It was cute. Thanks for the reminder Ethan.
Vance took Ethan down to the restrooms and they came back with these nasty things.
Seriously this is disgusting!!!
