Hiking with Grandma and Grandpa Chard

July 12 my parents had the day off and wanted to go hiking.  We were planning on going to Mt. Rainier and hike Comet Falls.  Unfortunately the forecast for Rainier was rainy.  So we went in the other direction towards Lake Cushman.  We stumbled upon a trail that said Mt. Rose.  So we decided what the heck.

Checking out Lake Cushman before our hike

This is a big lake and very beautiful

Sticks and rocks!

Vance and I in front of Lake Cushman

Mean daddy teasing Ethan.

Grandma and Aidan are ready to hike

At the very beginning of the trip was a couple of narrow bridges.  Kids loved going across them, but they scared me.

MY DAD!!

Small waterfall by the bridge

Everyone taking pictures

Kids exploring

The endless trees

Ethan attempting to climb the log to get on the huge rock.

A VERY big nest

Hiking up the mountain

Aidan slowing things down

Cool looking centipede. These were all over and every time the kids saw one that HAD to stop

My mom and dad taking a rest!!

The boys with their grandparents

The Hodo family!!

He's the king of the world

I'm sure there's some kind of bug or animal

You can see Lake Cushman, kind of.

Love the look on Vance's face!!

Off we go. Poor grandma with both boys hanging on her.

We made it to this point

Ethan climbing through rocks

Aidan, grandma and grandpa decided to head back to the resting spot and let us continue on.  We wanted to go a little further.

Apparently some guy numbered the switch backs.  If you go to the top there are over 100 switch backs

Vance is just about done

We turned around and headed back down.  We can see Aidan and Grandma

Ethan says he is going to die!

Aidan was having a hard time using his own legs.  Grandpa was looking after him.

Heading back over the bridge

That's where we went.

After the hike my parents left for home.  We decided to drive around a bit.

Stopped down by the water.  I love how clear it is.

Ethan being like his father, spotted this lizard and caught it all by himself.

Vance was quite impressed

NASTY!!

Ethan asked if he could take it home.  Sure what the heck.  Well while in the car the thing bit Ethan's finger.  He quickly said he didn't want to keep him anymore.  I tried not to laugh!!

Vance searching for some kind of creature

Lake Cushman dam.

Have to stop for ice-cream!!!

We had a good time.  I love hiking and look forward to going again.
